Vasque combined traditional all-leather comfort and support with a cutting-edge, weight-optimized sole for their lightest backpacking boot: the St. Elias GTX for men. With the same performance level as the Sundowner and the Ericksson, the St. Elias provides immediate comfort and very little break-in time.
The all-leather upper is made of 2.3mm thick nubuck and has a waterproof treatment. GTX refers to the Gore-Tex lining the leather, which creates a waterproof barrier between your foot and the water trying to get inside. With metal hardware, lacing is easily tightened and stays in place all day long.
Strenuous outdoor trekking requires durable and comfortable equipment. The St. Elias GTX has both. Starting with comfort, Vasque placed its All Terrain Compound inside the midsole. This ATC midsole is really soft and lets the sole of the foot conform precisely to irregularities on the trail. The result? Great traction and a feel, that's unlike anything before it. This midsole also has EVA cushioning pods and a TPU shank to provide shape between the lead weight distribution points of heel and balls of the feet. A dual density EVA footbed provides immediate cushion underfoot, and because of the double EVA layer, will not wear out as quickly. The upper and midsole is placed on Vasque’s Vibram exclusive Fronter sole that is used in multi-sport activities. This entire package is built on the Summit last, which has a slight rocker toe and excellent arch support for less walking fatigue. A great boot that enjoys through hikes and day jaunts equally.
