Merrell Work rolled out the Moab Vertex in late winter 2019 and we are all for it. The Vertex is a big improvement over Merrell Work's first attempt at a work shoe, the Moab 2. The company had really overbuilt the Moab 2, which affected the fit. The shoe was heavier and lacked the trademark qualities of a lightweight yet durable Merrell style. The Moab Vertex erased those mistakes and is a much better work shoe ideal for light to medium duty work.
What we like about the Moab Vertex Mid WP CT: lightweight, comfort promised right out of the box, and fits great. All those abbreviations means mid-height, waterproof, and with a composite toe. Just like the Moab 2, the Moab Vertex Mid sports a waterproof membrane and breathable mesh upper. That membrane is Merrell's M Select DRY technology, which seals out water and lets moisture escape. Let us not forget the breathable mesh lining. All this means you can worry less about sweaty feet. To top off the top of the Moab Vertex Mid, the bellows tongue keeps debris out and an abrasion resistant toe cap adds some protection from wear.
Underfoot, Merrell put in its Comfort Base contoured design footbed with breathable foam. This cradles the foot all day long and provides lasting support throughout the day. In addition, there is an air cushion under the heel to absorb shock and lend a little more stability with each heel strike. A molded nylon arch shank serves the same function for the midfoot. To cap it off, Merrell's M Select GRIP rubber outsole is heat resistant up to 500F degrees and sports a 5mm lug depth. The sole is oil and slip resistant and has durable traction when and where you need it.
We are very pleased with the Moab Vertex Mid WP CT. Merrell Work dialed back its safety toe footwear to work better for the wearer and last better. If you want this in a lower height, we have it available.
