We will not mince words. Thorogood’s 8” V-Series is an economical boot fit for work. Thorogood skimmed the price by making the V-Series overseas and with brown oiled nubuck leather. Yet it holds up when put to the test by our customers. The leather upper is bound to the base of the shoe with a Goodyear welt construction method (AKA stitched). That means there is integrity in the boot’s build and it feels like a solid platform that does not permit excessive movement.
A removable SHOCK ZONE footbed absorbs, well, shock with each heel strike. It is removable which means you can replace it and let it air dry (do NOT put near a heating element though or the insoles will shrink—use only boot dryers). The rubber chevron sole is the best value sole you can imagine. This sole is A grade resistant to heat, chip debris, abrasions, oil, and general slips. Oh, and we almost forgot to mention the steel safety toe cap inside the shoe that meets ASTM impact and compression ratings.
