At the request of our customers at General Electric here in Bangor, we brought in some American built shoes like the Mt Vernon Mid by KEEN Utility. This has been a long time coming, as we have a ton of USA-made and USA-built in Red Wing. But KEEN is a huge player in the work boot scene now thanks to the overall weight and hiking silhouette.

So here is the scoop on the Mt Vernon. It is a six-inch waterproof boot built in Portland, Oregon. The waterproof lining is KEEN's proprietary KEEN.DRY breathable membrane that our General Electric customers swear by. The Mt Vernon's soles and upper is molded together using a direct attach construction, which means it has incredible flexibility while still retaining the stability you require for your line of work. Something cool about KEEN Utility's Mt Vernon is that the midsole is made from a polyurethane which is more comfortable and long-lasting.

Metal hardware ensures laces will not rip or break, but keep the leather wrapped around your foot. Underneath, you stand on a removable metatomical dual density EVA footbed and oil and slip resistant outsole. That polyurethane midsole previously mentioned sits between the footbed and the outsole, so there is extra comfort between the heel strike and the rest of your body. The sole is non-marking too, and the entire boot is rated to ASTM standards for non-slip and electrical hazard ratings.
